MLU Basic Information

Q. What does MLU stand for?

A. MLU stands for Motherload Unlimited. Originally it was MU until Alex found  MLU more appropriate as the “L” stood for Load.

Q. When did MLU start?

A. MLU was started approximately 1.5 years ago as of December 31,2007.

Q. Who is the creator of MLU?

A. Alexx4 originally came up with MLU. It was a remake of another popular Mars digging game called Motherload by Xgen studios. Currently Alexx4 (Game Logic, Programmer) and Sethness (Graphics) work on the project.

Q. What does MLU offer that other Mars digging games do not?

A. For starters a bigger screen size. A bigger ground size; 48 blocks wide, 3000 high. Offline saving, high score database, a bunch of upgrade, a ton of minerals, and lots to explore.

Q. What can players of MLU see in the future?

A. Well hopefully there will always be something new. New version are always coming out every 2-3 months with promises of new features and better game play.

Q. What is the story behind MLU?

A. You are Hired by a Martian mining company (MMC) to dig out rare minerals hidden beneath the surface of Mars. You dig out these minerals for your own personal profit. Then, you use this profit to purchase upgrades and items for your digger. Frequent transmissions guide you on your way and introduce you to game's features.

There is a lot to explore underground with many minerals waiting to be dug up. It is up to you to use your strategy skills in order to obtain these minerals. Various upgrades, items, and secrets will help you along the way. Be careful, Mars can be a dangerous and unstable place.

Getting MLU to Run

Q. What do I need to run this game?

A. MLU takes very little to run.

- 256 MB of RAM (Less then half  is actually needed  ~70 MB)
- A Internet Browser. (Internet Explorer and Firefox have been tested and work fine.)
- Java JRE Version 1.5 or 1.6. (You may check to see if you have Java here. http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1 If you do not have Java you may download it here. (http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp)
- Active Internet Connection. (This isn’t really needed unless if you want to post your High Score and of course download the game.)

Q. That all sounds awesome. Now where do I download MLU?

A. You may download the latest version of MLU here. http://mlu.4shared.com

Q. Ok I download the latest version of MLU. Now what?

A. Un-Zip the file that you have download by “right clicking” the zipped file and selecting “Extract All…”.

Q. I don’t have a “Extract All” option.

A. Your computer probably doesn’t have a zip file extractor. You may download this safe and free one called 7zip. http://www.7-zip.org/

Q. Alright the files are extracted. What do I do now?

A. Simple. Open up the folder that you just extracted, then “double click” on the .HTML file. You will see your Internet Browser pop up, then the game will start to load.

Q. My Internet Browser opened, but all I see is a red “X” in the top left corner.

A. This can mean several things. You do not have Java, you need to update Java, you don’t have Java enabled for your Internet Browser, or Java is being blocked by your firewall.

- If you don’t have Java you may download the latest version here http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
- If your Java is not JRE 1.5 or 1.6. You may check to see if you have the latest version here.  http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1
- If your Java is not enables for your Internet Browser.
For Internet Explorer 7: Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Scroll down to Java (Sun)>Check “Use JRE 1.6”
For Firefox: I don’t have Firefox so if anyone does please fill this in.
- If Java is being blocked by firewall. This problem is a bit harder to fix as there are several firewall programs. Each with different options. I suggest learning how to work your firewall.

Q. Alright the red “X” is gone now and the game is loading fine. How do I start the game now?

A. Start by clicking on the screen, then follow the on screen instructions.

Q. Where do I upgrade, purchase items, and sell my minerals at?

A. The Home Base is what you are looking for. It is located all the way to the far right.

Q. How do I drill sideways?

A. Press the Space Bar and your digger will drill to the left or right depending on what direction you are facing.

Q. I bought Teleport 1but I can’t get it to work.

A. Teleport 1does not work below 8,000 feet. Make sure that you are above 8,000 feet and you are pressing “Q” to use it.

F. Wofür steht MLU?

A. MLU steht für Motherload Unlimited. Anfangs hieß es MU, bis Alex meinte, dass man auch noch ein L für „Load“ braucht.

F. Wann fing MLU an?

A. MLU (Snowglobe II) wurde am 31.12.2007 gestartet.

F. Wer kreierte MLU?

A. Alexx4 hat das erste MLU kreiert. Es war ein Remake von einem anderen berühmten  Mars-Bergbau-Spiel namens Motherload von Xgenstudios. Bei dieser Version arbeiteten Alexx4 (Spiellogik, Programmierer) und Sethness (Graphik) mit.

F. Was bietet MLU an, was andere Mars-Bergbau-Spiele nicht bieten?

A. Größere Bildschirmgröße; größere Spielfläche (48 Blöcke breit, 3000 hoch); Offline speichern; High Score Speicherplatz; viele Upgrades, viele Minerale und viel zum erkunden.

F. Was können Spieler in Zukunft bei MLU sehen?

A. Im Moment wird fleißig an MLU2 programmiert. Dieses neue Spiel ist keine Weiterentwicklung von MLU Snowglobe 2, sondern ein neues eigenständiges Spiel auf einem neuen Planeten. MLU Snowglobe 2 wird wahrscheinlich nicht mehr weiterentwickelt, da die neue Version (Valentine) in der Beta-Phase abgebrochen werden musste, weil sie zu viele Fehler (Bugs) hatte. Wir hoffen trotzdem alle auf neue Versionen oder Spiele.

F. Was ist die Hintergrundgeschichte MLUs?

A. Du wurdest von der Martian Mining Company MMC (Übersetzt: Marsianische Bergbau Firma) angestellt, um nach seltenen Mineralen unter der Erde des Mars zu suchen. Du darfst den Erlös des Verkaufs der Minerale behalten und dir davon neue Maschinen und Teile für dein Bohrfahrzeug zu kaufen. Regelmäßige Nachrichten helfen dir auf deinem Weg und erklären dir einzelne Funktionen des Spiels.

Es gibt viel zu entdecken und du wirst viele Minerale finden, die nur darauf warten, von dir ausgegraben zu werden. Viele Upgrades, Items und Geheimnisse werden dir auf deinem Weg begegnen. Sei vorsichtig, der Mars kann gefährlich und instabil sein.

MLU starten

F. Was benötige ich, um das Spiel zu starten?

A. MLU braucht nicht viel, um zu funktionieren:

- 256 MB RAM (Es wird weniger als die Hälfte gebraucht: ca.70 MB)
- Ein Internet Browser. (Internet Explorer und Firefox funktionieren beide.)
- Java JRE Version 1.5 oder 1.6. (Du kannst gucken, welche Version du hast auf: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1 Falls du kein Java hast, kannst du es hier herunterladen: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
- Aktive Internetverbindung. (Wird nur benötigt, wnn du deine High Score hochladen willst oder dir das Spiel noch herunterladen musst.)

F. Wie lade ich MLU herunter?

A. Du kannst dir die neueste Version MLUs hier herunterladen: http://mlu.4shared.com

F. Was soll ich jetzt tun?

A. Entpacke die Dateien, indem du auf sie rechts-klickst und „Entpacken“ wählst.

F. Ich habe keine „Entpacken“ Option.

A. Dein Computer hat vielleicht kein Entpack-Programm. Du kannst dir 7-Zip hier herunterladen. http://www.7-zip.org/

F. Die Dateien sind entpackt. Was soll ich jetzt tun?

A. Öffne den Ordner, in dem sich die entpackten Dateien befinden und doppel-klicke auf die .HTML-Datei. Dein Internet Browser wird sich nun öffnen und das Spiel laden (Obwohl sich dein Internet Browser öffnet, bist du nicht im Internet).

F. Mein Internet Browser hat sich geöffnet, aber ich sehe nur ein rotes “X“ in der oberen linken Ecke.

A. Das kann mehrere Gründe haben: Du hast kein Java, du musst Java erneuern, du hast Java nicht für deinen Internet Browser aktiviert oder Java wird von deiner Firewall blockiert.

- Falls du kein Java hast, kannst du die neueste Version hier herunterladen: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
- Falls du nicht Java JRE 1.5 oder 1.6 hast, kannst du hier gucken, welche Version du hast:  http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1
- Du hast Java nicht für deinen Internet Browser aktiviert.
Aktivieren für den Internet Explorer 7: Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Scroll herunter bis zu Java (Sun)>Check “Benutze JRE 1.6”
Für Firefox: KEINE DATEN VERFÜGBAR
- Falls Java von deiner Firewall geblockt wird, können wir dir leider nicht helfen. Da jede Firewall anders ist, musst du selbst lernen, wie sie Funktioniert und die Option verändern.

Falls diese Anleitung nicht hilft, frage bitte in unserem Forum nach: http://mlu.aceboard.com/ (Falls du nicht so gut Englisch sprichst, melde dich bitte in dem Thema „Deutsches Thema“ von Glumski. Glumski, also ich, übersetze alle Fragen vom Deutschen ins Englische. Ich habe auch die Anleitungen übersetzt.)

F. Das X ist verschwunden und das Spiel hat geladen. Was nun?

A. Klicke auf den Bildschirm und folge den Anweisungen, die dort stehen. Falls du kein Englisch kannst, gib deinen gewünschten Namen in dem Feld „Start new game“ ein und drücke Enter. Falls du mit Ton spielen willst, solltest du vorher in den Feldern „Music“ und „Sound“ die grünen Punkte in die rechten Kreise befördern (falls du trotz dieser schlechten Erklärung nicht damit hinkommst, frag mich, Glumski).

In-Game Hilfe

F. Wo kann ich upgraden, Minerale verkaufen und Items kaufen?

A. Du suchst die Heimatbasis. Sie befindet sich weit rechts.

F. Wie bohre ich seitwärts?

A. Drücke die Leertaste und die Pfeiltaste, in deren Richtung du bohren willst gleichzeitig.

F. Ich habe einen Teleporter 1 gekauft, aber er funktioniert nicht.

A. Ein Teleporter 1 funktioniert nicht unter 8000 ft. Sorge dafür, dass du über 8000 ft. Bist und drücke „Q“.
